A medical procedure used to treat very large abnormal cell changes in the cervix (such as advanced pre-cancerous cells) by freezing the affected tissue with liquid nitrogen. It is performed under local anesthesia (if necessary) and is considered safe and effective. It is used to treat conditions such as severe inflammation or very large abnormal cells caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV).
